The Mendi Kandep Highway is progressing well. Heavy machinery is spread out between Mountain Wiri and and mendi in SHP side and Bin Mountain and Kandep station in Kandep side of the Border.
What remains is a notorious 20km section of road which should be opened up by the end of this year (2013). The road is worth up to half a billion and it is going to be sealed. Yes! SEALED.
The people who live a long the road are now more receptive and not asking for compensation too much.
Thanks to the MPs - Done Polye, Francis Awesa, PM Peter O'Neil and former MP Isac Jacob for lobbying for the road and making it a reality. Credit must go where it is due.
For students, Public servants and all who have not been home for a long time, it is a must that you see what is happening at your districts in Mendi, Lai valley and Kandep.
