Warakamb in 2014

Improved living conditions for Warakamb in 2014

While the rest of PNG is saying good bye to 2013 and welcoming 2014, Warakamb is doing the same. PM Peter O' Neil has said that 2014 should be a better year for PNG. The people of Warakamb agree. What is in store for Warakamb in 2014? Let us look at some of the projects that will improve the living standards of the Warakamb people sector by sector.

1. Roads. The Mendi to Kandep Highway construction will happen finally begin in the Valley. This will be the major impact project for the people. The Winja to Maru road should be constructed by hand and shovels. This will link Hela to Warakamb. The Hiri to Lai road will also be built through the Kolpa du and on to Monda and join the Mendi Kandep Highway.

2. Education. - Marara community school will graduate its first grade 6 this year. The Winja community school will be rebuilt. Warakamb councillors will be adviced to establish at least 2 more elementary schools. 4 Warakamb students to graduate this year from University. More to enter university.

3. Health - The MRDC funded Marara Aidpost building will be completed with opening soon. What remains is the APOs house. CHW will move in this year. The Don Polye funded Winja health centre should start construction.

4. Law and order. there should be no tribal fights this year. The Maul and the Masurs should make peace this year.

5. Spiritual- Camp meeting in Anaal in Jan 2013. Kendor SDA church building has been completed. Will be opened and dedicated this year. WAECA meetings should commence all over the country.

6. With more projects planned for Kandep and PNG as a whole in 2014, the spill over effects will be felt in Warakamb.

These projects should bring Warakamb out of the dismal swamps of people with broken backs with cabbage and potatoe bags to slightly better conditions of living. Good bye 2013 and welcome 2014.
